Did someone try the new skype 1.3 beta? Is there already a ebuild somewhere?

In the changelog you can read, that skype supports alsa, now :)
I will try it, as soon as there will be an ebuild.

If somebody is interested, meanwhile ebuild will be provided, should download Dynamic binary tar.bz2 (9.9 MB) (if you have qt-3.3), unpack it somewhere to your home and type skype from there.

Just tried go through settings and make test call (while amarok was playing) and it seems that some alsa support is added becouse skype and amarok "played" together at the same time.

Mic doesn't work for me either.
I tried with both ALSA as well as OSS. Tried to change almost all the settings related to in-going sound for example: capture, front mic, rear mic etc. but it simple refuses to work. On the other hand the stable version works fine with OSS emulation. It seems as though rather than going forward, Skype is going in reverse direction. Sigh...

Can't get Mic in with my Terratec DMX6 Fire (envy24,ice1712). Don't think it's a Skype problem as I've never tried to get my mic working with Gentoo before. Does anyone have a good .asoundrc profile for it?

I have 82801 ICH6 HDA Controller (Rev 03) running with snd_hda_intel. Can the people who have got Skype working tell about their sound card and ALSA module they are using?

Are you talking about link to skype binary posted above? For me it still works, you can try get it directly from download page.

Keep in mind, that there is also ebuild readdy in bugzilla - see here - hope it will reach portage soon.

It works like a charm. I'm really happy to have alsa supported.
When will the final release be out?

For those who cannot get their mic working and use kde. kmixer (3.5.2) and skype (1.3 beta) don't seem to get along with my setup. Whenever I enabled capture skype disabled it. I had to enable capture with alsamixer. Hope this helps someone.

anybody know what this means

I installed 1.3.0.30 the other day by manually putting the necessary ebuild files in /usr/portage. Now skype won't let me make any calls :(

Basically I call any contact in my call list, it opens a new tab and says "Connecting..." and just sits there forever. I can't even cancel the call (has no effect) and upon trying to close skype it just freezes completely.

Does anyone else have this problem or is it just me? For me the upgrade was really pointless and I'll downgrade again soon if I don't find a fix...

I've verified that I have a working Internet Connection, firewall/nat traversal works as usual (tcpdump tells me so) and the other setup is the same as it was before. I even tried downgrading dbus to 0.23 but that made no difference. I never had any such issues with the previous version.

Same issue here, but it seems that running skype by "root" does not exhibit the bug, maybe a Gentoo wrong setting? Running Skype in Ubuntu 6.04 by a standard user works like a charm...

I had the same problem, reemerging qt3 should fix it, this is because you upgraded to gcc-3.4 from 3.3

Doesn't work out here. I still don't hear my self but OSS problem is gone now. Some how Skype thinks that I have connected Mic from Front Audio header so I need that channel unmuted. I can use Skype 1.3 with OSS but not with ALSA.
