I installed gentoo in my hp dv1000 series notebook, and almost everything have perfectly functions less the card reader.

but when I go to execute the command "mount /dev/mmc0 /mnt/sdcard"..the system says that the linking does not exist "mmcX"

Somebody obtained to install this

Have you tried to compile the driver into the kernel? I had exactly the same error messages. I read that it sometimes doesn't work when compiled as modules.
