I've added the desktop file under the /etc/X11/gdm/Sessions file for XFce as according to the wiki entry, but GDM offers no option of XFce under "Sessions" on startup. There's also an odd xfce file in the folder that's a shell script. Why can't I start XFce?
EDIT: The problem has changed: startxcfe4 tries to start another X server, while GDM's runs. It causes the screen to corrupt. What's wrong here?

This entry seems to add a new option to the session menu of GDM.

I can't use startxce4, since it corrupts the display, and xfce4-session seems to do the same. If I have the corrupt display up with GDM, then run DISPLAY=:0 xfce4-session, it'll actually work. Do I have any hope otherwise?
