Network card 3com 3C590 TP0 freezes the system

Hello.

I have the 3com 3C590 TP0 network card and everytime I boot up the Gentoo Live CD, the system freezes on the first time it tries to comunicate with this network adaptor.

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem and how to solve it?
