I have gentoo installed on my PC, finally got most everything working (ALSA, xfree86, DRI/DRM etc..) which is cool cause I've tried installing gentoo 4 times in the past year. But I'm an EQ addict, and I can't get winex/wine/winex-cvs workin in linux, cause I have an ATI card (I think)

SOO....
I have 1 40gb drive partitioned as follows
/dev/hda1->/boot
/dev/hda2->swap
/dev/hda3->/
/dev/hda4->vfat32 with all my old mp3's etc on it...

Can I install win2k/xp on the hda4 partition, let it overwrite my MBR, then use the gentoo live cd to chroot to gentoo and reinstall GRUB and be able to dual-boot? thanks for the help :P

Definatly. There are only two problems that you might run into:

1) Windows like booting off the primary master, but I think you're okay here
2) Be *VERY* careful about what you allow Windows to do during the install. You don't want it wiping out your Gentoo install :)

I second both motions; BE CAREFUL, billy-boy doesn't like to play nicely.

XP is supposed to be multiboot-compliant, but it may still not like booting off of the tail of your drive. If you have trouble, use grub's hiding features to make M$ think it's the only thing out there.

Guero: Could you explain to me grub's hiding features? or is there a link in the documentation on gentoo.org? I was planning on just using the advice for setting up grub that is in the x86 installation guide...

Thanks :)
