|
|
Hi,
I'm having a strange problem, I think it started after I upgraded to kernel 2.6.17. and a newer wireless-tools.
Anyway, so I used to use to get a list of access points. The tool used to give me quality, signal level, and noise level info. After the upgrade, now it only gives quality.
Because of this some of the other tools and my scripts that rely on wireless-tools don't give me signal strength info anymore .
Code: |
wifi Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 00:02:6F:08:24:C2
ESSID:"default"
Protocol:IEEE 802.11b
Mode:Master
Channel:11
Encryption key:off
Bit Rates:11 Mb/s
Extra: Rates (Mb/s): 1 2 5.5 11
Quality:92 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Extra: Last beacon: 6354ms ago

How can I have 92% quality with 0 signal strength? This is very strange ... any one have any more info? I searched the forums but couldnt find anything similar. |

Well, I checked, looks like the tools and kernel are compatible ... I've tried wireless tools 27, 28, and 29pre10. I wish I knew how to fix this.
Code: |
iwconfig Wireless-Tools version 29
Compatible with Wireless Extension v11 to v21.
Kernel Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v20.
wifi Recommend Wireless Extension v18 or later,
Currently compiled with Wireless Extension v20. |
