It likely means the entry for your root device is not correctly nominated.
to be sure, best if you post a snapshot of your partition structure.
best way is with /etc/fstab/.
sda6 means scsi which I don't deal with.
If regular hard drives, standatrd nomenclature is /dev/hda6.
I've not used lilo for a while. Did you remember to run lilo after last adjusting it.
I remember lilo requiring that. _________________ idella4@aus |

hi idella4,
lilo is working fine because it gave when i first booted a menue to pick gentoo or windows in mycase .
and for the fstab i edeted it as followes:
/dev/sda3 /boot ext2 defaults,noatime 1 2
/dev/sda5 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/sda6 / ext3 noatime 0 1
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs nodev,nosuid,noexec 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,user 0 0
any suggestions?? |
