Hi !
I'd like to burn with my PX755SA burner but it isn't detected by cdrecord -scanbus or cd-info command, the only device detected is my IDE plextor PX130 DVD reader :

CD location : /dev/cdrom
CD driver name: GNU/Linux
access mode: ioctl
Vendor : PLEXTOR
Model : DVD-ROM PX-130A
Revision : 1.02
Hardware : CD-ROM or DVD
Can eject : Yes
Can close tray : Yes
Can disable manual eject : Yes
Can select juke-box disc : No |

cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'. |
But as you can see below my burner is detected by the kerner (2.6.15). You can see my sata hdd is sda but i can't find what is the burner, i tried sdb but it doesn't seem to be that ... I can't even mount the dvds in that drive.

Try the following: Code: | cdrecord dev=ATAPI -scanbus |

As you can see, only my atapi DVD player is seen. The Sata burner isn't. I wonder if it is detected by the kernel ? |

Ok, that didn't go well. What if you open the device directly? Code: | cdrecord dev=/dev/sd? -checkdrive | It will complain but you can ignore that. _________________ EASY TO INSTALL = Difficult to install, but instruction manual has pictures.

What kernel are you using? gentoo-sources? vanilla-sources? I know it's a 2.6.15 variant.
If you're using vanilla-sources, you should apply this patch:
http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/linux-patches/genpatches-2.6/trunk/2.6.15/4300_libata-enable-atapi.patch
Alternatively, you can try adding one of the following lines to your kernel boot parameters (try them both, I'm not sure which one it is):
Code: | libata.atapi_enabled=1
atapi_enabled=1 |
