is there a way to restore what ive just deleted?

okay, i had a sega rom that i really wanted to show a friend and it saved the avi playback as the same file name and deleted over it, the original rom was in a seperate zip file first named *sega* so i wanted to remove the overwritten sega rom, therefore i typed rm sega*, but this was entirely accidently, can someone tell me if its possible to bring my rom back to life by restoring it somehow? thank you

First thing: As you read this, unmount the drive in question imediately! If it's your root partition, log of your computer, shutdown, boot a LiveCD(!) and come back.
