Hi,

trying to update xorg-x11 took long time with no success, very frustrating. After unmerging the old one I get the following error, no matter which packet of the modular one I try to compile:

ebuild.sh, line 1545: Called dyn_compile
ebuild.sh, line 940: Called src_compile
ebuild.sh, line 1254: Called x-modular_src_compile
x-modular.eclass, line 329: Called x-modular_src_make
x-modular.eclass, line 324: Called die

Although having read the 'porting to modular-x howto', I have no idea how to solve this problem.
Really hope anyone can help me.

Go to /usr/portage/distfiles
Delete all, or at least the ones that make the problem
re-sync emerge
retry the compile

I had the same, this simply solved it.

Thank you for the reply, but it didn't work, the same as before. Did you delete only the source files or anything else?

Since I'm lazy, I just did
Code:
rm -rf *
in another konsole screen, which was open at that dir :)

What also might be a problem... check which libpng version you have, you need at least 1.2.10, make sure you don't have 1.2.8!

I updated libpng, but no difference to before. But I think the problem ist the dependency checking as described in porting-modular-x-howto. How can I do this without creating a chroot?

Got me stuck here. What I told worked for me, didn't have any other problems....

Maybe this topic helps a bit:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-474608.html#3406350

Or as described in the XGL howto...
-->fix it by adding -mmx to x11-base/xgl in your /etc/portage/package.use file.

I'm kinda lost, so I googled for the error and got this...

Ok, I didn't have the mmx-flag in my CFLAGS, so this is unfortunately useless. Great thanks for your effort, but I still have a very last question: did you need to take the steps as described in porting to modular x-howto?

No, I used the migrate doc:
http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/modular-x-howto.xml#doc_chap1_sect1

which actually was enough, it worked perfectly

Though halfway the emerge, features I was using, like firefox, were dropping out. They were back after a reboot

I did too, but it seems for me to have no chance. I should spent my time in more reasonable things, thank you much.
