For some reason, I'm not getting any sound (beeps) out of my PC speaker. I've turned up the volume for it via aumix, but I must be missing something else.

My .aumixrc file looks like this:
Code:

vol:100:100:P
pcm:100:100:P
line:0:0:P
mic:0:0:R
cd:0:0:P
pcm2:100:100:P
igain:0:0:P
line1:0:0:P
phin:0:0:P
phout:0:0:P
video:100:100:P

Ideas?

Thanks,
Ian

AUMIX settings do not have anything to do with PC Speaker (You don't need a soundcard to have a PC Speaker). The Speaker setting in aumix will only affect whether the beeps will come out of the big speakers too.
My .aumixrc has a
Quote:
speaker:0:0:P
and I still hear beeps from my PC speaker. But your .aumixrc doesn't have a speaker line.

Are you sure it is not unplugged on your motherboard? It's easy to unplug the tiny speaker cable from the front and forget about.
Do you get a POST beep when you power your system on? (Or, has that machine ever beeped before)

do a
Code:
dmesg | grep Speak

I see on my system,
Quote:
input: PC Speaker as /class/input/input0

If you don't see that, maybe it doesn't see the PC Speaker.

The sound driver should allow you to make the PC speaker beeps out of your main speaker, if you can get the Speaker setting working.

I found my problem. I had not enabled my PC Speaker module. Solution was to enable the "PC Speaker support (INPUT_PCSPKR)" option in my kernel, or insmod /lib/modules/2.6.17-ck1/kernel/drivers/input/misc/pcspkr.ko

Thanks for the replies.
