Sound devices not registered in /dev/sound* after boot

Hi!

I'm using ALSA and devfs. Soundcore is compiled as module. I have read a lot about configuring ALSA, devfs, kernel modules but I did not managed to get it work :cry:

Sound devices are just not automagically registered in /dev/sound* after boot. Everything else is working: TV/FM card, DVD-ROM, CD-RW, network interface, video driver with 3D support, even wheel mouse :wink:

Workaround for now is to start mplayer, choose movie, pressing Play button, mplayer complain about audio not initialised, close mplayer, look in /dev/sound/*, voila, there are my devices (audio, dsp, mixer).
I even put some aplay *.wav file in local.start file. Strange thing was that the sound was played but when I login and checked /dev/sound/* was empty :?:

Any ideas? Anyone? Anything?

Hi!
I am back! Since no one had any idea, I did some thinking. Again. And again. Then I compared loaded modules before and after I started mplayer. I found out that after mplayer was started two modules were additionally loaded: snd-pcm-oss and snd-mixer-oss. I just put snd-pcm-oss in local.start and voila ...!!!
