The latest version of the rt2x00 drivers (from CVS) requires a recent kernel patch found at:

http://lwn.net/Articles/185899/

The patch applied and built cleanly on my linux-2.6.17-gentoo-r1 kernel sources, and I'd recommend that it be included in future gentoo kernel releases.

Is there a better way for me to communicate this instead of the forums?

You might want to send this to uberlord or the mobile herd maintainers.

uberlord@gentoo.org || mobile@gentoo.org

They seem to be the ones supporting this driver.

(meaning that when you look in bugzilla, they are the ones assigned the bugs)

A couple of things:

1 - The ~x86 version of rt2x00 is a CVS build, and apparently doesn't require the patch anymore. (Which isn't to say that that patch might not be useful for folks with SMP.)

2 - The rt2x00 boards imply that the CVS build is NOT the way to go, since it's not always up-to-date (apparently, they don't use the sourceforce CVS as their primary code repository). Instead they recommend downloading their daily snapshot (http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/wiki/index.php/Downloads).

(FYI - The rt2x00 is still under heavy development and it's recommended that you use the older drivers (rt2400, rt2500 etc) instead. However, only the new rt2x00 driver supports master model, i.e. AP mode, which is why I need it.)

Hope this helps someone else!

The rt2x00 SF CVS is up-to-date now in my experiance. The reason they started providing the tarball package was due to the CVS problems all sourceforge projects were having before they migrated to their new system (pre <project-name>.cvs.sourceforge.net )
