emerging script

when you run the #emerge --pretend kde and get the list of packages and dependancies required to do the install will the system automatically install them in their correct order or do you need to run the emerge command with each individual package/component?

sorry if this is a goofy question but for some reason its not clear to me yet...i just installed gentoo yesterday
