Hallo zusammen,

nach meiner Odyssee mit dem nVidia-Treiber für mein Toshiba SP 6100 mit
GeForce 420 Go, bin ich nun wieder in einer neuen Talfahrt.

Nach mehreren xorg.conf-Einstellungs-Varianten, erhalte ich nur eine Auflösung von
969x768 Bildpunkten, anstelle 1024x768. Rechts ist ein schwarzer Balken.

Leider komme ich nicht mehr weiter und benötige eure Hilfe.
Irgendwie habe ich das Gefühl, daß es an der Monitoreinstellung liegt, die
nicht richtig ausgelesen wird (siehe Xorg.log).

mir war so, als wenn der nvidia treiber nur 24bit farbtiefe unterstützt.

Bist du dir da sicher, dass das ein Fehler am XOrg ist?
Ich hab das auch mal gehabt... Bis ich sah dass das ganze Bild veschoben war. Wollte das auch mit einer Config lösen, leichter wars allerdings den Auto-Adjust-Knopf am Monitor zu drücken ;)
Ich kannte das nicht weil ich selber nen DVI hab...

@franzf: es geht hier um eine nvidia go, somit wohl notebook, somit hat das display wohl keinen *adjust* button ;)

warum diese maßnahme? nunja, habe bis jetzt mit 3 toshiba notebooks erfahrungen gemacht (uxga mit go4 bla, sxga+ mit ka und xga mit go2) und keines wollte auf anhieb so wie ich wollte - toshiba fährt da irgendwie ne andere schiene

Seit Nvidia-Treiber 1.08756 wird versucht, die Monitorinformationen direkt aus dem Monitor auszulesen. Bei fehlender Monitorunterstützung werden da scheinbar irgendwelche Standardwerte angenommen. Danach liefen auf einmal diverse TFT-Monitore und ältere CRTs mit 75 Hz Bildwiederholfrequenz. Meist hilft's da nur, dieses tolle Feature wieder zu deaktivieren.

Um eigene Modelines zum Laufen zu kriegen mußt du folgendes beachten:
1. wie bereits von rewus erwähnt:

Option "UseEDIDFreqs" "FALSE"
Option "UseEDIDDpi" "FALSE"
Option "ModeValidation" "NoEdidModes"

Die erste Option ist dabei die ausschlaggebende.

2. darf die Modeline keine Standardnamen mehr haben. Also wie oben beschrieben:

wird nicht funktionieren. Die Modeline muß jetzt einen eigenen Namen haben.

Morgen zusammen,

@musv: Bei meinem Toshiba Notebook SP 6100 mit Geforce4 420 Go, muß die automatische
Erkennung des Displays eingeschaltet bleiben.
Auch funktionierte Modline nicht.

@firefly: Dein Vorschlag brachte erst Licht ins Dunkle, benötigte etliche Stunden, bis ich
auf diese Parameter gestoßen bin, damit der Bildschirm nicht schwarz blieb und der Rechner

@borsdel: Das nvidia Board brachte den Erfolg. Bevor ich aber gepostet hatte, fand ich
gleiche Probleme und die entsprechenden Parameter

Folgende zusätzliche Einträge in der xog.conf brachten den Erfolg:

Option "UseEDID" "true"
Option "ExactModeTimingsDVI" "true"
Option "Modevalidation" "NoEdidDFPMaxSizeCheck, NoVesaModes"

Die automatische Display-Erkennung kann durch bestimmte Parameter ("Modevalidation")
beeinflußt werden. Bei mir wird wohl die Erkennung der größtmöglichen Auflösung ausgeschaltet.
