I read that if you have a server running dnsmasq, then other computers connected to the server can just use the host names given in the /etc/hosts file on the server. However, this is not working for me. In the /etc/hosts of the server, I have an entry: 192.168.0.100 marsconsole.solarnetwork marsconsole . However, when I ping mars from another client computer (earthconsole), it says that the host is not reachable. Any idea why? Do I have to do something to tell dnsmasq to check the hosts file?
Thanks.

Yeah, it was. But it turned out my domain name was different from that of the server... I think thats what caused the problems, because it works now. |
