|
|
Hello,
I just emerged nagios 2.4 and saw, that there is no nagios.cfg at all. Not even an example config to start from. Correct? nrpe and ncsa configs have been installed, but the main configuration file(s) are missing. On purpose or bug?

Hi,
From the nagios-core-2.4 ebuild: Quote: | "The example config files are located at /usr/share/doc/${PF}/sample-configs/." |
Are you familiar with Portage's elog feature, introduced with 2.1? It will log information like this (and optionally email the elogs to your system mail account) so if you miss the notice during a multi-package emerge you can read it after the fact. Take a look at /etc/make.conf.example for details on how to accomplish this. |

I haven't taken care of of elog so far and enotice just mentioned /usr/nagios/bin/convertcfg. I'll need to investigate into elog a little, I guess. But finally, I found the samples. even thoug they are a little meager.
Thanks very much for your help |
