I just upgraded my kernel from 2.6.16-gentoo to 2.6.17-gentoo-r3 and now X starts really slowly.

Everything worked fine just before, but know X (Xorg 7.0) takes ages to start, I am using the latest unstable fglrx drivers, its slow slow that I can't use Xgl because it will time out before Xgl can start (I know Xgl is unsupported but thats not the problem its X thats the problem)

I have checked all my log files that I think are relavant, but its still slow, I'm looking to see if there are any solutions are than downgrading the kernel.
