Going to need more info then this to help. where are you looking for your IDE drive? What options have you compiled into your kernel for IDE support? Have you configured your controller card so that the IDE disk is detected at boot up?

The IDE disk is detected in BIOS. i can see my other IDE disks in gentoo but does are not connected to the controller card, they are connected to the motherboard.
i'm looking for the IDE disk with

# fdisk -l

i only added support for my controller card in the kernel (promise sata150 tx2plus).
what other options do i need if any?

Well, within the kernel configuration there are options for device drivers --> ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL Support --> and a bunch of choices you should have for regular IDE support. The ones off the top of my head that look like you need them are:
  • ATA/ATAPI/MFM/RLL Support
  • Enhanced IDE/MFM/RLL disk/cdrom/tape/floppy support
  • Include IDE/ATA-2 Disk support
  • Generic/Default IDE chipset support
  • PCI IDE support
  • Generic PCI bus master DMA
  • Use PCI DMA by default when available
  • [your chipset for your card if you can find it]

Yes i have support for all does, but the IDE disk still is not showing up.
But the IDE disk shows up with the gentoo install CD.

i have 2 IDE disk which works but does are connect to the moderboard, when it is connect to the controller card it dosent seems to work.
