Hello,

I migrated to modular Xorg according to http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/desktop/x/x11/modular-x-howto.xml

Everything went well except that switch to another user (within KDE) doesn't work anymore.

We are two to work on the same computer and if we open a new session or switch to another user, it closes all sessions and comes to the login window.

Any idea appriciated.

I just noticed that neither xdm nor kdm are installed. Is that normal?

Yes, if you don't install it, it won't be on your system.

I understand that, but do I need kdm to manage multiple sessions? I guess not because I didn't have this package before.
So, why Xorg7 doesn't let me use multiple sessions feature?

Impossible to install kdm, kdebase blocks it.

I found this:

Who manages multiple sessions? Is it KDE or Xorg?

I did:
Code:

# emerge --update --deep --newuse world
# emerge --depclean
# revdep-rebuild

in order to try to have the system in the best shape but it didn't solve the case.

I can't even use Ctrl + Alt + F1 to switch to text mode, this action closes the X session and display vertical lines...

Code:

emerge -e xorg-x11

didn't solve the case either.

Hello jean-marc, after my migration to 7.0 my ~/.Xauthority was faulty so I couldn't "switch users". You and I have different videocards and a lots of other things that differ, but as a longshot you could try:
Code:
xauth add :1 . `mcookie`

Hej, hej !

I ran your command as root and as well logged as both users, I restarted the computer but that didn't help, sorry...

I'll emerge Xorg 7.1 right now, I'll be back...

Sorry I couldn't help you, it was a longshot as I said. :( You can look at bugs.freedesktop.org. Doesn't bugreport 5795 (with duplicates 5384 and 7434) look interesting? Anyway, I wish you good luck.
