Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone else notices a long delay while booting the kernel 2.6.16 right after some ACPI messages. My kernel stops for 18 seconds during boot, apparently in something having to do with ACPI iniitialization. Is that a timeout i can fix somehow? Otherwise everything works fine, just curious if i can make it even faster :)

What motherboard do you have?

What happens if you enable ACPI Debugging in your kernel options?

Also, do you have SMP and Hyperthreading or Dual Core (I use hyperthreading, but dual core will probably work similarly) enabled?

I have had a similar freeze (except in my case it is permanent, but I don't always try waiting)

You can also look at getting a fixed DSDT for your motherboard, though in my experience it has never helped.
