Hi,
I found a wireless network in my department but some thing is wrong with the connection. If I ping I get:
wcflavio flavio # ping caju
PING caju (164.41.38.131) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from caju (164.41.38.131): icmp_seq=1 ttl=60 time=45.4 ms

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 20.752/33.101/45.450/12.349 ms
So the wireless conection goes up and down continuously...
I use ifplugd (and it works perfectly for eth0) and my /etc/conf.d/net file is:
modules=( "ifconfig" )
config_eth1=( "dhcp" )
my /etc/conf.d/wireless is as follows:
essid_eth1="default"
mode_eth1="master"
channel_eth1="6"
If I type iwlist eth1 scan, I get:
wcflavio flavio # iwlist eth1 scan
eth1 Scan completed :
Cell 01 - Address: 00:80:C8:2A:5E:94
ESSID:"default"
Protocol:IEEE 802.11b
Mode:Master
Channel:6
Encryption key:off

Extra: Rates (Mb/s): 1 2 5.5 11 22
Quality=100/100 Signal level=-177 dBm
Extra: Last beacon: 228ms ago
wcflavio flavio #
I'll be very pleased if someone could help me to connect this wireless correctly.
Best regards,
Flavio. |

Moved from Gentoo on PPC to Networking & Security.
Code: | Quality=100/100 Signal level=-177 dBm |
Not quite sure, but that signal level looks a bit weird. _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered
