|
|
I am thinking of getting a small machine that would act aserver that I could leave on 24/7 at home. I do not need anything powerful as all I want to do is DNS, SSH tunnels and maybe a few static web pages. My criteria are as follows:
1) Low power consumption
2) Reasonably cheap
3) Can run linux
The two items I have come across so far are:
1) Buffalo linkstation (http://linuxdevices.com/articles/AT9676199755.html)
2) NSLU2 (http://www.nslu2-linux.org/)
I suppose another option would be a cheap old computer.
Has anyone had any experience with these options? Anyone else think of other suitable devices?
Thanks |

Old desktop computers aren't usually too power-conservative (although better than most current). Older laptops do qualify, however. |
