Ciao a tutti,
finiti gli esami mi son dedicato oggi ad aggiornare certe criticita' (X.org modulare in primis  )...da tempo avevo lasciato indietro il php da aggiornare, ma avendo ora (un po') di tempo libero, non mi dispiacerebbe mettere su sia PHP4 che PHP5...

Mi e' chiara, ma prima di proseguire mi son anche letto

E qui son un po' perplesso...ci son tantissime alternative! Io non ho la piu' pallida idea di cosa scegliere... 
In fondo, faccio parte di un team di sviluppo di studenti  ...quello che a me interessa e' vedere come il sito funzioni sia con PHP4 che PHP5 (una volta scelto uno dei due, programmero' con quello...cambiero' solo per vedere come/se funziona...)
Cosa avete scelto voi fra quelle alternative? Perche'? E cosa mi consigliate?

dato che hai letto le guide, come dici,
se sei hai la necessità di testare php4 e php5 la migliore
soluzione è installarli entrambi ed usare suPHP
trovi tutto sulla guida, io lo uso su macchine di produzione
e non fa una piega

il nuovo ebuild di PHP in portage ha la USE concurrentmodphp che permette di avere PHP4 e PHP5 installatto in contemporanea e correttamente dall'ebuilds stesso; credo che faccia al caso tuo, provalo, ma attenzione, è una cosa nuova e potrebbe darti problemi.
