|
|
'iwlist wlan0 scan' always reports no scan results, even though I can boot into windows from the same location and get online with no problem. I am running a 64 bit Gentoo, and using the 64 bit 'dows drivers with ndiswrapper.
Code: | # lspci | grep -i wireless
08:07.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02) |
Code: |
# ndiswrapper -l
Installed drivers:
bcmwl5 driver installed, hardware present
|
and here is the dmesg after loading ndiswrapper:
Code: |
ndiswrapper version 1.17 loaded (preempt=no,smp=no)
ndiswrapper (load_pe_images:573): fixing KI_USER_SHARED_DATA address in the driver
ndiswrapper: driver bcmwl5 (Broadcom,02/11/2005, 3.100.64.0) loaded
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:08:07.0[A] -> GSI 22 (level, low) -> IRQ 177
ndiswrapper: using irq 177
wlan0: vendor: ''
wlan0: ndiswrapper ethernet device 00:14:a5:58:08:8d using driver bcmwl5, 14E4:4318.5.conf
wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP; TKIP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK; AES/CCMP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK

Is there a configuration step that I am missing, somewhere between loading the module and trying to get online? The card worked in Suse with ndis wrapper (sort of...Knetworkmanager would configure but not connect, so I would run knetworkmanager and then dhcpcd afterwards, and it would work.) _________________ AMD 64 3200+ on GA-KV8T800 MB

If it's a laptop with built-in wlan and an on-off button to the card, then I suggest you press it first. Ndiswrapper will always say the card is "on", no matter what state it actually is in. _________________ Gentoo Hardened Linux 2.6.21 + svorak (Swedish dvorak) |

Yeah, its a function key...that is somewhat humiliating. Never had a laptop with an integrated card before. _________________ AMD 64 3200+ on GA-KV8T800 MB

So how did it turn out? Did it help? _________________ Gentoo Hardened Linux 2.6.21 + svorak (Swedish dvorak) |

Yeah, that was the problem. I was stuck on that for two days. Unless someone can point me towards a good resource for installing KNetworkManager on Gentoo, I am done with the networking. _________________ AMD 64 3200+ on GA-KV8T800 MB
