Is it possable for me to have 2 xorg versions installed at the same time?

Currently 6.8.2-r8 is rock solid working for me (including any nvidia version I chuck at it)

But anytime I try to unstall and add 7.0 or 7.1 in fails (due to some libs failing everytime)

But now I've done a new clean system and would like to keep 6.8 operational while testing and confirming 7.0 or 7.1 WORKS

Any help appreciated

wolfbite_aus,

No - you need two gentoo installs. Xorg is not slotted, which is the Gentoo technique for keeping two versions of the same thing seperate. You can use other Xorg drivers (other than nVidia) e.g nv or vesa to get some stability in exchange for speed.

To run binary 3D acceleration, you need Xorg 7.0, not 7.1 which should be the stable versions on x86 and amd64
