Well, I'm kind of new to Linux, and have been attempting to install Gentoo 2006.0 Minimal on my Dell Optiplex GX1..
I can boot into the CD, but can't seem to get my network connected.
I've tried modprobe 8139too, and then net-setup eth0, which just got me a "device not found" error.
Here's my config:
-Dell OptiPlex GX1 500L
--500mhz intel CPU
--128mb ram
--24x CDROM drive
--10gb Maxtor HDD
NIC's:
-inbuilt 10mbit ethernet NIC {Links to another computer}
-Realtek(?)-based 100mbit NIC {Links to Router}.
Now, I've installed Gentoo 2005.1 on my AMD64 before, and had no such troubles - does anyone know what's going on? |

Did modprobe 8139too return any message? No message means it succeeded.
What is the output of ifconfig -a? _________________ Please add [solved] to the initial post's subject line if you feel your problem is resolved. Help answer the unanswered
