I'm having trouble starting Gnome. When I start it as root, everything works ok. But when as myself, it gives an xscreensaver error and then gnome-panel segfaults. After clicking 'ok' to this error-dialog it restarts gnome-panel which segfaults again. And so on..
Here is the ~/.gnomerc-errors:
Code: |
SESSION_MANAGER=local/anubis:/tmp/.ICE-unix/11721
GLib: Cannot convert message: Cannot convert fallback '?' to codeset 'ISO-8859-15'
(/usr/bin/metacity:11757): GLib-WARNING **: gdate.c:1362 Error converting format to locale encoding: Invalid byte sequence in conversion input
GLib: Cannot convert message: Cannot convert fallback '?' to codeset 'ISO-8859-15'
** (gnome-panel:11761): WARNING **: Unable to load panel stock icon 'go'

KDM seems to work ok for most parts, except for mplayer and xmms, which don't show any fonts in their menus (except for open file and hotkeys). But this isn't as much of a problem as I plan on using Gnome anyway :)
Everything is synced to the lates version in stable portage.
PS, Removing ~/.gnome2 and other related stuff didn't help as suggested here |
