|
|
Hi
I was using an old PC like a router with two NICs via iptables on 2.4 kernel. Few days ago I changed it for other one (K6-II 3D 300MHz 64MB RAM). When I tryed configure iptables it only wrote:
Code: | FATAL: module ip_tables not found
iptables v3.5.1:can't initialize iptables table 'filter': iptables who? (do you need to insmod?)
Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded. |
I've got 2.6.16-gentoo-r9 kernel and 3.5.1 version of iptables.
Please help me...

Thanks
I did not know about these setings in kernel configuration. In 2.4. it just works maybe it was turned on as default.
Now I'm compiling kernel (it takes some time on this mashine). I hope that wil solve my problems.

iptables wasn't set on by default in the 2.4 serie afaik, neither it is in the 2.6 serie.
Things have changed a bit though in the latest 2.6 kernels: iptables is burried a little bit deeper in the kernel config than it used to be.
I'm sure you'll be ok once you get all the iptables modules you need compiled. |
