You too, post yours.

Mine is 222 packages long. Some 20 contain nvidia kernel, etc misc packages. And the remainder 200 contain gnome 2.14 packages. I guess the gnome packets could be revomed from the list.

BTW, is there some kind of automatic cleaning scripts for these files? For example when a packet goes stabile then it doesnt get removed from the list, right?

ecatmur's dep utility now has that feature.

And yes, the entries stay in after the newer version is used.

Probably the reason is if the new version got removed from portage you'd go to an older one than the one you wanted. Plus, I think /etc/portage is supposed to be a user-maintained directory that portage doesn't touch (asside from changes in names/locations of packages which happen occasionally).

Thanks, must check that later. Lol, I put it on the to do list. It can get as long as the keywordlist at times. :D

if you're running so many unstable packages, isn't it easier to switch to ~arch entirely? I'm sure you have a valid reason, but i'm just wondering.

Not to many, just some stuff that wouldn't work as stable :)

Didn't we have a "post your package.keywords" thread a year ago or so? Well, that would end in long posts with all these files over 200 packages

I'll explain it to you so it's clear. There's some 20 misc keyworded packages consisting of alsa, nvidia, nvidia-glx, some codec etc misc packages.

The remaining +-200 packages are gnome 2.14 packages which IIRC are now in stable. I put them there when I read in GWN that gnome 2.14 is going stable soon. That was in last week or so. I could propably remove the gnome packages from the keyword list. However I'll wait some time before I rush to remove them. Some of them could be still keyworded so it could cause situations when updating.

I admit I was running mostly keyworded SW later but for a year or so I've been running mostly stabile packages only.

I try not to pollute my stable system with too many ~arch packages, so my package.keywords usually just has 5 or 6 packages in it.
