Partial lockup with "apm: suspend was vetoed"

Hi,

I'am in big troubles here. It seems that something broke because apm trys to suspend my machine with no reason.
20 minutes ago while I was watching a movie (waiting for openoffice to emerge) the image went away, only the sound remained. No response from any keystrokes - I had to ssh in from another box to see what happens. I had to kill X (and it got started by gdm afterwards) to gather control over my machine back. This is not the first time it happend - about two weeks ago it started to act like this. I didn't change anything important since then. If I boot with a kernel without apm support - everything works fine. I'd like to use apm further on and I hope somebody knows something about this problem.

Here are the my specs:
AMD XP1800+, ASUS A7V133A board, 512 MB SDRAM, Geforce Ti 4200 running with
gentoo-r1, kernel 2.4.20 (gentoo-sources) I don't want to upgrade to gentoo-sources-r2 because the lack of XFS wich I use - and still don't want to switch to xfs-sources because I'd like to use a preemtible kernel.

While I was on my machine with ssh I captured the following informations:
