I'm running a complete x86 system, no unstable. Recently, KPDF has been displaying non-embedded Courier text in bold. Sure enough, a look at the PDF properties shows KPDF is using

Code:

/usr/share/fonts/default/ghostscript/n022004l.pfb

which is NimbusMonL-Bold. All the other non-embedded fonts are fine. I tried both reinstalling and then downgrading poppler and poppler-bindings to version 0.5.1-r1. I couldn't find any other configuration files besides the normal fontconfig ones that are stock.

So, what does KPDF/poppler use to decide which fonts to select?
