dnsdomainname and hostname problem

After a recent kernel upgrade to 2.6.16-gentoo-r13, and a udev migration to 087-r1, I get a warning message at bootup that says 'stop using /etc/hostname and use /etc/conf.d/hostname' then later in the boot it says 'stop using /etc/dnsdomainname and use /etc/conf.d/dnsdomainname'
How do i go out making the switch. And yes i searched the forums first but the search funtion sucks.

nano -w /etc/conf.d/hostname...........customize to your system
remove old /etc/hostname

nano -w /etc/conf.d/dnsdomainname...........customize to your system
remove old /etc/dnsdomainname
