Grub comes up fine, but when I press enter it just gives me a blank screen and nothing happens. Any ideas?
The system has a radeon X850 graphics card. I think that's the only thing I changed in it sence last time I installed gentoo on it.
Also tried the gentoo-nofb... I actually see text, but it stops on:
checking 'hlt' instruction... OK.
The same happens with gentoo-nofb nodetect. :0/

I can't also install Gentoo (minimal) on old ACER Extensa 650 laptop. Looks like install CD can't boot. Checked under desktop comp - everything working OK. Then I tried PLD Linux on the laptop and boots fine. Any idea? |

Do you get the boot prompt? If so, how far does it get before it freezes? If your not getting anything at all I would check the CD. |

Nothing happens. Blank screen after BIOS info, then laptop went through FDD, CD-ROM and start to use HDD. It is strange but PLD Linux starts without problems. I tried also Gentoo Live CD and Ubuntu Live CD - both can't boot on the laptop. |

Try installing gentoo from a liveCD that does boot, ie PLD. |
