[SOLVED] emu10k1 + microphone

Hi guys,

I've recently installed teamspeak as Ive needed it for some clan matchs (ut2k4

), and it works quite well. Unfortunately however, I have an issue with "Voice Activation", ie. when I talk it automatically transmits. The problem I have is that whenever anyone else speaks, my microphone also transmits, causing an echo. Due to this issue I've had to use "Push to Talk" to limit the problem (which is incredibly annoying :/).

I was hoping someone might be able to help me with their alsa settings, since I'm a little confused with there being two mic inputs (well, "mic" and "phone", and it seems "phone" is the one that actually controls volume of my mic) in alsa. My sound card is an Audigy 2 ZS (using emu10k1) and the latest alsa from the 2.6.17 kernel.

I'm also able to reproduce this problem by playing music through any app like amarok or xmms, and hitting record in Audacity will record the music. So this is probably most relevant to helping fix the problem. Any one have any idea what i should change ? Should I post my current alsa settings?

sounds like your sound volume is either too high or the activation level is too sensitive

Hi! I've attempted to turn down the PCM volume, and that didn't make any difference (well for audacity/amarok). I havent tested it with teamspeak as I assume this setup should be similar?

Ok, managed to fix it. Seems I need to mute both the "mic" and "phone" and enable the mic capture device only. This was a problem at first because when you press F4 in alsamixer for this card it crashes. I finally managed to get it to work by using kamix (which seems to be the best of the mixer apps).
