first off for some reason my domainname isn't recognized.. when it boots up it says welcome to gentoo@uknown_domain and apache2 complains with

Quote:

* Starting apache2 ...
apache2: Could not determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName

also, I have to somehow get smtpp set up, but i really don't want to run a mail server off my computer... twiki wants to send admin emails using smtpp.. is there anyway I can tell it to use my gmail account or just leave the admin e-mail thing out all together?

i don't know if you ever fixed this, but the "welcome to unknown" problem is one of two things:

1) /etc/hosts doesn't have a properly configured localhost line
2) /etc/conf.d/net doesn't have a dns_domain_lo setting

as for ssmtp+gmail, there is plenty of docs around for it.

cheers
