Hi guys
I've bought 2 days ago sx4300 sata card (spend a lot of money ) because on promise site described than is full compatibility with linux. I didn't investigate a lot and I've tryed to compile module from source, but (since 2 days without success). I'm not an expert of C and I can't make neccessary patches by myself to arrange it with my lovely Gentoo. This is first time when I can't make function some hardware on gentoo, incredible...
My system:
- dual opteron x86_64
- 2 gb ram
Code: | # uname -a
Linux lovelygentoo 2.6.15-gentoo-r4 #6 SMP Sat Jul 29 17:44:48 CEST 2006 x86_64 AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 242 GNU/Linux |
I've downloaded partial source from:
http://www.promise.com/support/download/download2_eng.asp?productID=147&category=all&os=100
next I follow all instructions, make some arrangments and I have still same compile error (since 24 hours, brrrrrrrr):
Code: | #make DRIVER_SRC_DIR=`pwd`
make V=1 CC=cc LD=ld ARCH=x86_64 DRIVER_SRC_DIR=`pwd` -C /usr/src/linux M=`pwd` modules

Almost 1 year later..... Anyone know if the SX4300 works with stock kernel sources or gentoo sources. I inherited an old server with a card, and will try soon. But wondering if I'll be wasting my time.
Thanks for any replies. _________________ Laptop: Toshiba Satellite 5205-S505
