|
|
Are there any easy programs (THAT WORK) to create DVD menu for short movies?
I've tried:
a.) dvdstyler-1.4; constantly crashing when I try to "just generate" dvd.
b.) qdvdauthor-0.1.0 is even worse crashing constantly (doesn't run at all on ~amd64).
Instruction to "Creating the menus" from:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-117709-highlight-dvd+authoring.html
are a bit of outdated, gimp has change the menu interface several times since 2003 so it is hard to follow the instructions.
Does anybody have a good pointer?

You could try the todisc script that comes with the tovid package. You'll have to pull the ebuild out of bugzilla though. _________________

THANKS FOR THE TIP!
I've downloaded and tried the tovid (the todisc script) and I must admit the "DVD Menu" creation works perfect. I like that animated menu, BRILLIANT just BRILLIANT.
Why are we waiting with this package to get it into portage???
Good programs that work and are easy to work with (tovid) are not in portage, and crap like (dvdstyler, qdvdauthor) are just taking space in portage and increasing bug counts :-/
Sorry, but it is just a plain reality.

Glad it helped. It has trouble with variable bitrate wmv and rm files though. Either the tools will die with an error or produce output that isn't close to correct. They have worked with most other formats I've thrown at it though. As long as mplayer and/or ffmpeg can handle it, so can tovid. By the way, you might want to check out the tovid site for their frequent updates and their own support forums.

IIRC mjpegtools 1.8 are already in the stable tree, so probably
http://dvdstyler.sourceforge.net/wiki/FAQMjpegtoolsError
will fix your problems. Qdvdauthor should have the same issue, but I am not familiar with it, so no idea how to fix it . _________________ bye maik |

m707:
Thanks for the post. I've used dvdstyler before and I remembered that I had to make an edit somewhere in that menu screen. The only difference was that last time I only got weird error messages that popped up, but now that I'm on an amd64 machine (I was on an x86 the last time) instead of a detailed error message, the entire program just crashed and the only console output was a segmentation error. I made the change for the hell of it and it seems to have worked Thanks for the post (might not have found it otherwise) |
