Since i installed the 2.6.17-r3 kernel , it wont let me boot into x. it says it cant run in frame buffer mode. the older kernel 2.6.16-r13 ran fine with the vesafb option on. can someone tell me how i may fix this and get it to boot into kde? |

It's been a long time since I've seen that error but I seem to recall that it my case it was a problem with X11's configuration, not the kernel. Can you startx if you boot without a framebuffer? _________________ Time is what keeps everything from happening all at once. |

I've managed to fix this by disabling the vesa module in the kernel and then using a proper config file for Xorg. This did the trick and let me boot into kde fine. |
