hi, i got a asus m2n-e motherboard with a nforce 570 chipset, when i installed gentoo first time i could easily connect to the internet with adsl-setup/start, but now that doesn't work anymore, eth0 is present but ifconfig shows me that he doesnt receives/sends anything, only under the dropped section there are numbers. booting the livecd i cant connect anymore also thats the strangest thing, booting my compiled kernel with the forcedeth driver also not.in windows the nic works flawless i really can't imagine why that happens, i configured it with static ip and im connected to an adsl modem. |

You may be receiving something similar to this post: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=73098
It seems as though when dual-booting windows, certain versions of forcedeth can't initialize the card. I would try the recommendation in the last post of that thread and disconnect your power supply, then boot directly to linux and see if that works. If so, you might need to try downgrading to a previous version of forcedeth.
Alternatively, one of the posts on that thread mentions kernel support for NFORCE5 in kernel 2.6.16 and later. You could also try that. |
