|

Okay, I'm having some major problems installing (from LiveCD) either Gentoo or RedHat on my HP Pavilion...
It has a 1.8Ghz Intel Celeron Processor, Touch pad, internal DVD/CDRW combo, onboard network card.
My problem is.. no keyboard, no mouse. Once it starts booting the system itself, I lose the ability to use the keyboard completely. The only way I can find to get around this is to hook up an external keyboard to my PS/2 port on the laptop..
Can anyone tell me if I need to add options to the boot configuration so i can install Either Gentoo or RedHat? I'd prefer Gentoo..
Oh, and I'm using R.4_rc3 Live CD.. Haven't downloaded the RC4 yet.
Thanks! |

I had the same problem installing on my hp ze5270. I disabled usb and firewire in the bios and then was able to install.
Good luck.
If you have problems after getting started emerge irssi and check out #gentoo-laptop for more help. |

Yup! It works! Cool!
I'm trying Redhat first to see if it works. If it does, I'll blow the installation and install Gentoo. I'm not overly fond of RedHat's RPM System, even though we use it at work predominantly... |
