gnome, xinerama with mergedfb

Hello,

I was using the ati-drivers before with my radeon card and 2 monitors. After a hdfailure I rebuild my system from scratch and started using mergedfb (no more problems I hope with the ati configuration).
I also decided to use gnome as a system default xsession but I only have a problem with the gnome-panel. I cant find any way to stretch the panel over the 2 monitors with xinerama enabled for other applications.

If I rebuild my system with xinerama enabled the panel only goes to 1 monitor. without xinerama the panel is ok but also other apps stretch over the 2 monitors...

Is the gnome-panel xinerama configurable?

(Also still looking for 3d accel with mergedfb on both monitors but that's for later)
