This one I find suspicious, so I don't go straight to bugzilla.
I don't seem to able to get online mp3 stream playback to work in XMMS.
http://64.236.34.97:80/stream/1024 is a di.fm stream url.
It works fine in mplayer:
Code: |
obelix@home ~ $ mplayer -cache 32 http://64.236.34.97:80/stream/1024

mplayer too thinks this is an mp3 stream, and I am hearing sound - all ok.
I open XMMS, click add->URL, paste the same url, it get's added to the playlist, I click it, XMMS displays a "Connected: waiting for reply" and stays like that ( and mplayer starts streaming right away - no 20min connect ).
XMMS works fine on mp3 files and I get this problem with any stream url, not just the one above.
I find it hard to believe XMMS is _THAT_ broken, so it may be something on my side. Is anyone else getting this ? |

by default xmms installs mad as mp3 playback plugin. emerge xmms-mpg123 and streaming should work again with this decoder plugin. |

Thanks, this solves it... almost.
I emerged xmms-mpg123 ( not sure if I had it all the time ), it still did not work.
I unmerged xmms-mad and now it does work,.... BUT:
Code: |
home ~ # emerge --pretend --update --deep world
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] media-plugins/xmms-mad-0.8
home ~ # emerge -puDtv world
These are the packages that I would merge, in reverse order:
Calculating world dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] media-plugins/xmms-mad-0.8 0 kB
Total size of downloads: 0 kB
home ~ # equery d xmms-mad
[ Searching for packages depending on xmms-mad... ]
home ~ #

So, something is pulling back xmms-mad. How do I find out what it is ? |

it is xmms i guess. just install xmms-mad and xmms-mpg123. open up xmms and disable the mad decoder plugin in the preferences menu. |

Hmm, that didn't solve it for me.
but I found this:
Code: |

I can reproduce this by connecting to a stream, stopping and re-starting it.
Then I only get a .. connected. waiting for reply and nothing happend'
But no problems after restarting xmms.
On another machine its no problem but I didn't find the cause. |

pengu, I had the same problem (and xmms-mad was already disabled in my xmms config as well). Removing ipv6 support from xmms-mpg123 fixed it for me:
Try
USE="-ipv6" emerge xmms-mpg123
as a test and see if it fixes it for you, too. |
