side buttons stopped working in firefox

Ok, my side buttons have been working fine in firefox all along (as forward and backwards), but I just noticed they suddenly don't. I didn't change anything, but it did happen after my last update (which gave me the new firefox-bin, im AMD64). So at this point I forgot what I did in the first place to get them working. I wasn't using imwheel, so Im assuming its not necessary.

Anybody know?

It could just be an xmodmap issue.
Check this link to make sure your extra buttons are correctly configured.
