For whatever reason, my "local" initscript boots first in the default runlevel. However, it is correctly coded to boot "after *", and no dependencies.

Any ideas why it wants to boot first instead of last, and how to make it boot that script when it's supposed to?

Thanks

Strange!

Have you tried reemerging baselayout? That should reinstall the base init scripts. Don't forget to do etc-update afterwards.

Did that, now I get 6 million "ln: creating symbolic link `/var/lib/init.d/softscripts.new/hostname' to `/etc/init.d/hostname': No such file or directory

(just to pick one, but does it for everything)

doesn't even remount read-write anymore.....
