Hi,
I have a problem with cups printing to a Win98 shared printer.
Normally printing works fine, but when the Win98 station is off-line, CUPS deactivates the printer, and when
the Win98 station comes on-line again, I have do enable the printer manually, ( via Web Interface or lpadmin )
Is there any way to keep the printer activated ??

If it was a local USB printer, then you could solve this by using udev. But being network printer, the only idea I can come up with is cronjob that runs "cupsenable printername" every 5 minutes. Not a nicest way to solve it, but... |

Yes, I made this already...
not on a 5 min. basis, only in the morning hours... thats enough...
the W98 station is nomally turned on all the day ( working hours )... and there is no problem.
but sometimes one reaches earlier, and sends a printjob before the station is turned on.. and thats the problem.
I could not belive that this is a normal behaviour, and there is no parameter to disable this timeout....
