The only one I could find is True Combat for ET. It's a good game, but I was hoping to find a project with a similar idea to battlefield 2. Since America's Army's linux support is discontinued I don't have a war shooter to play.

Unreal Tournament, although unrealistic itself, has some realistic mods, check out the list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unreal_Tournament#Mods
UT and some of the mods are in portage. Strikeforce (a SWAT Team/Terrorist mod) is quite fun, and Infiltration is quite good as well (World War 1 or 2, I forget which). If need be, you can pick up the UT CDs (the data files are needed to install it) for a couple of quid from around the internet.

If you aren't going to vomit of the idea of playing Windows games with Wine, you might want to consider buying Red Orchestra: Ostfront. It works basicly perfectly well under Wine, only problem is the extra mouse buttons, pressing them will either crash Wine or then they just don't work. Performance is very good when using OpenGL renderer.

You could also check out the mod version of Red Orchestra. Some people still play it, Linux players mostly I guess. It's a mod for UT2k4.

As far as I know, there is also a version for the original UT

Nope. UT2k3, UT2k4, and a retail Unreal 2.5 version (Windows only).
