|
|
Hello,
I would like to buy a 32 bits PCMCIA CompactFlash Reader, but I would like to hear about their compatibility with a Powerbook :
- does anyone has experience with this kind of hardware ?
- how did you get it to work ? I've done a bit of research and found the entries relating to PCMCIA/CardBus in the kernel config, but is it enough for a card reader to work ? Or does it need SCSI disk support (like USB mass storage), or other drivers ?
Thanks for the input... |

I have one working on my laptop. Apart from the PCMCIA drivers, the only other thing needed in the kernel was the option for PCMCIA IDE drives, or something to that effect. CF uses an IDE bus, so the kernel sees it as an ide drive, hence you access it via /dev/hdX. _________________ Top Tips in life, #7

Thanks for the tip. But... is your laptop a Powerbook ?
Either way, I am not really worried since
- I remember reading the PCMCIA slot on the Powerbook could be made to work
- and you told me about the PCMCIA IDE driver,
but I thought I'd check. |

Woah, didn't spot this was the PPC forum Mines not a powerbook, but as you say you should just need the PCMCIA IDE driver. _________________ Top Tips in life, #7
