What are you talking about? The thumbnails? Konq already does thumbnails, the new konq (KDE 3.2) is going to be very good for browsing pics etc... from a smartcard or a removable disk.

Or are you talking about the sidebar? Try hitting F9, Konq has a bar similar, but not exactly the same as that one. Click on all the different icons on the side, it's pretty good.

that screenshot is from xandros linux.. they are using kde-2.2 as the base for their desktop.. therefore, if you have kde 2.2 or above installed you can get the same looking window. all you have to do is click that icon to the far right. :D

The screenshot isn't of Konqueror. Xandros developed their own file manager that they include in the distro

I'd definetely say that's KDE2... antique widgets (not even Hicolor), no antialiasing, no alpha blending on the icons. It's definetely not Konqueror either.
Personally, I prefer gqview for browsing images. Pretty damn quick, just wish it did GIF animations. However, you can do this very easily in Konqeuror: Check the View->Preview menu. Konqeuror goes beyond thumbnails for images - it renders documents into them too.

sorry, shoulda been a bit more clear. i was actually referring to the left window pane that showed the file information. in windows, you can goto the view menu of a folder and select web view to get that.

was just wondering how to do that in kde.

and yes, it IS kde 2. xandros hasn't moved to kde 3 yet.

I too like the preview pane (much like win98/2000). It's usefull if you like to view the files in list or details mode and still be able to "preview" images or media files.

well its not quite the same thing, but with Konq3.1.1 in KDE3.1.1a if you just hold your mouse over the thumbnail a tool-tip will pop up with similar information.
