don't switch to vt1 when changing the runlevel

I use different runlevels, depending on whether my laptop runs om batteries or on AC.
What annoys me a bit, about 10 sec after i plug the AC adapter in, the system switches to vt 1, and i need to switch back to vt7 (where i usually work). This is especially annoying when the ac power is only interrupted fore some seconds.

Is there a way to make sure the vt is not changed when the runlevel is changed?

I had that working on a laptop, but VTs didn't change during the switch.
